PROJECT 01 : SELF-EXPRESSION THROUGH OBJECT
This is an ice breaking design project which introduce us to elements and principles of visual art through designing a mask. A mask is usually worn for protection or a disguise. So, we had to dig deep down ourselves and to actually ask ourselves the ultimate question, who are we really? The design of the mask must reveal our most powerful identity.
Submission Requirements :
- 1 final model of our mask on a 1:1 scale
- 1 A2 board which consist of drawings and diagrams of the mask. Writing of up to 50 words.
Design Concept :
I can truly say that I am a patriotic person, like I would literally fight for my country and take a bullet for it. So my design intention is to actually show the patriotic side of me. I took inspirations from the symbol of Indonesia, which is the Garuda Pancasila. This mask is called the Joruda.
The structure of the mask itself is rigid, polygon shaped, which is to show strength and power. The base of the mask is gold in colour which is to show my loyalty and devotion. On the left hand side of the mask, is actually a bleeding wound scar to show that I actually would bear any scar for the sake of my country. And then I applied the 5 principles of the Garuda Pancasila; the believe in one supreme god, humanitarian ideals, national unity, Pancasila democracy and social justice; onto the mask by representing them in gold, yellow, green, silver and white respectively.

DESIGN STUDIO 01
5 Credit hours
The main purpose of this project is to introduce us about the proportion of the human body, interaction of space with the human body and explore more on the role of reasoning and logic in shaping the form of a building.
We were required to design a confined space, which is called the "24-hour Life Capsule". The limited space given challenged us to explore, study and consider about the anthropometrics and ergonometrics body dimensions, body movements, human behaviours and human needs.
Submission Requirements :
- Model of the "24-hour Life Capsule" in a scale of 1:10
- Presentation Panel A2 boards (1 or 2)
- All drawings are on a scale of 1:10
The life capsule that my group made is called the Captrovert. The name came from the word "Capsule" and "Introvert". So basically this capsule is designed specifically for introverts. Based on our research, introverts like to stay at home where they feel comfortable, safe and secured in a confined space. We decided to take the concept of a snail shaped like capsule because the snail shell provides a confined shelter and security for the snail, which the introverts most likely needed.
PROJECT 02 : LIFE CAPSULE

REFELCTION
What I've learned in this project is that when designing something, especially in architecture, we need to actually dig deep in for meanings and try to not make it too literal. In my opinion, a good design can be justified when the viewer/audience wonders what the state of the art really means and when they understands it, they are amazed by it. So this project really opened my mind into looking deeper for meanings and at the same time, to start to think outside the box.
REFLECTION
My group went through a lot of process of designing our capsule after studying and understanding about anthropometrics of the human scale. We have to take into accounts of the details of understanding the anthropometry size of the average human scale when designing the space in terms of size, shape and the appropriateness of the function of the space. We also learned that when making a model, we shouldn't put too much colourful elements because architectural models are supposed to be nice and simple.
PROJECT 03A & 3B : PLANES & PATHWAYS
PROJECT 03 : DREAMSCAPE FOR THE SELF
The aim of this project is to apply all that we learned from all the previous projects that we had done. In this project, we were required to choose a dream client and then to actually design a building for him/her depending on his/her character. So the dream client that I chose for this project is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozart is an Austrian man who is famous for the music that he composed during the Classical Era.
My design intention is to design a workspace for him where he can find inspirations from the bulding itself. So based on my research, he actually finds inpirations from music rhytms that he hears from concertos and operas that he attended to and also from choirs in the church where he works. The design that I implemented into his building is based on music rythms. I took the rythm from one of his famous songs that he composed, the Piano Concerto No.24 to create the whole structure.
Submission Requirements :
- Presentation Panels - A2 Boards 92/3 pieces)
- Final model Scale 1:50
- Verbal presentation 5 minutes
- Sketch Journal
- Evidence of design process and thoughts through study models to be displayed alongside final model

PROJECT 3A
The aim of this porject is for us to study further and understand more about elements in architecture. Here, we learnt about vertical and horizontal planes, and also about pathways. Plane is architecture can be divided into three, the horizontal, vertical and base plane. In a group of two, we were required to analyze any existing building. Me and Crystal, my group mate, chose the buidling called the Ananti Clubhouse, located in South Korea.

PROJECT 3B
For the next task, we were required to build a set of combination of 30 pieces of horizontal and vertical planes in order to create our own structure or pathways. Still in the same group of two, me and Crystal, my group mate, made a small church which we called it the "Church of Light". The reason why we came up with that name is because we made a church that has a pathway that is guided by a light that is coming down from the top, which is shaped like a cross, that leads towards the vocal point, where the altar is located and where the cross at the top intersects. The vocal point receives much more natural lighting compared to the others, which made it as a vocal point.

REFLECTION
This project taught me the most important part of designing whether it's in architecture or not, that design process is very, very crucial when designing something. I'd say I went through 5 or 6 times of process before coming into the final design as it requires a lot of thinking process and also by making the actual model of my design helped me to identify my flaws in the design and improved the design as a whole.
